Enjoy a little mid-summer gardener theme song for fun.
Our gardener theme song may help you keep going in summer. And, summer can be exhausting for gardeners as well as farmers.
After months of hard work and long days, the thought of putting out another round of lettuce can seem tiresome. So, even pinching basil can leave gardeners weary. As well, harvesting another bowl of snow peas or seeding beans for the 50-billionth time can bring on the grumpies. That’s because by mid-summer, we’ve been seeding and caring for crops since back in February.
It’s not that we don’t love gardening and farming…
We do all of this because we love it. But, even things we love can become tiresome. Fortunately, music can make a difference. That’s why I made up a little gardener theme song to keep me going.
Do you need a little gardener theme song for your long days?
In case you’re a fellow weary gardener looking for something (or someone) to laugh at, try singing this one to the tune of Journey’s Don’t Stop Believing. Really, this gardener theme song can make those repetitive gardening chores just a little less tedious — or at least it does for me.
Don’t Stop the Seedin’ Gardener’s Theme song lyrics:
Just a horty girl, livin’ in a greener world.
She took a garden hose going everywhere.
Just a suburban boy, born ‘n raised on Oreos.
He took the garden spade going everywhere.
A neighbor with a smokey ‘Q
crafts great wine; makes us swoon
with a smile we can share it all
as years go on & on & on & on
Strangers. Walking.
Up and down our boulevard
They’re neighbors.
Searching for tomatoes ripe.
Streetlights. Crows. Cawing to annoy.
I hope they die tonight.
Working hard to get our fill
no longer interested in petrol-swill.
Payin’ pennies to get a harvest
Just one more time.
Some will thrive; some will die.
Some were born to feed the slugs
Oh will the season never end?
It goes on & on & on & on
Strangers. Walking.
Up and down our boulevard
They’re neighbors.
Searching for tomatoes ripe.
Streetlight. Crows. Cawing to annoy.
I hope they die tonight.
Don’t stop the seedin’
Hold out for a feedin’
Street-side gardenin’
Don’t stop the weedin’
Hold out & soon you’ll be eatin’
Got too much? Share it via gleanin’
Don’t stop the seedin’
Hold out for a feedin’
Hold out & soon you’ll be eatin’

So what do you plant for a second season harvest?
I’m still seeding beans. I try to put out a few every few days thru the season – this helps deal with the slug attack on every other seedling (this year). I’ve got a couple successions of carrots and beets happening as well as several successions of tomatoes, lettuce and squashes. In the next few days I must get a late planting of carrots in as well as a seeding of brassicas (TBD what that will be this year – probably purple cabbage and lacinato kale, which we didn’t have room for this spring).
How about you MrBrownThumb? What are you singing…I mean seeding?
